Common questions
How long does a sealer last?
Penetrating sealers last 5–10 years. Topical sealers (acrylic, PU) typically need a re-coat every 3–5 years depending on traffic and sun exposure.
Is it safe around food and pets?
We use low-VOC, food-safe-certified sealers in kitchens and pet areas — just let us know up-front.
How long before I can walk on it?
Light foot traffic after 4 hours, full cure at 24–72 hours depending on the product.
Will it change the colour?
Penetrating sealers stay invisible. Topical sealers enhance colour (the ‘wet look’) and add sheen. We can do a test patch first.
Can you seal over an old sealer?
Sometimes — we test compatibility first. Failed or peeling sealers need to be stripped or ground off.
Do I need anti-slip?
Required for ramps, pool surrounds, commercial wet areas and any sloped surface. Optional elsewhere.
